This unique, architect designed converted chapel, believed to have been constructed in around 1778 in Cotswold stone beneath a stone slate roof, retains many original features and has been finished to a high standard with a thoughtful mix of contemporary and antique furnishings. The double height living area features four original stained glass arched windows and a glass balustrade staircase to the first floor, creating a stunning open-plan space. The en-suite master bedroom family bathroom and second bedroom with zip and link twin beds, which can be converted to a double on request, provide spacious accommodation on the first floor. An attractive courtyard to the rear of the house completes this very special holiday home for four guests.
Situated in the picturesque village of Bampton, close to the Cotswolds and River Thames. Fans of Downton Abbey will recognise parts of Bampton, most notably St. Mary's Church and the library, which was used for filming outdoor scenes for the popular ITV television series. Although many amenities selling local produce can be found in Bampton, the larger city of Oxford and Witney town are in easy reach, offering an even greater selection of shops and places to eat. The many delights of the Cotswolds are within a short drive including Burford, Bibury, Woodstock and magnificent Blenheim Place, to name but a few. Additional Information: Children over seven years old welcome. One small well behaved dog welcome (small additional charge). The two bedrooms have Velux windows with black-out blinds.
